                                                                      Ant God's

When I was a boy, like most kids with a magnifying glass I knew how the sun and the glass could fry an ant. Unlike the other kids I chose to observe them rather than fry them. I wondered how they work, why they seeming wonder around looking Learning about them as an adult my thinking and reasoning changed. One summer afternoon I was sitting on my front porch watching their patterns that looked random, but all were working toward a common goal that would benefit the colony. While I was watching them I suddenly had several thoughts, like do they know what or who I am to them, or do they even know I'm there. I wondered if they were aware of me. Did they see me as a giant, a danger, a human, perhaps they didn't even know I was there, or do they see us as Gods. There is a passage from the bible that reads, God created us in his own image. I have often wondered what exactly dose that mean. Does it mean that since we are in his image that we are in a way Gods ourselves? Probably not, but we do share traits with God. We can create life, or take life, we can build amazing structures, or destroy them, conquer the oceans, even leave Earth entirely and walk on the moon. Sitting there looking down on the tiny ant, I looked up and saw the sky, and as night came and stars were starting to appear I remembered there are more stars in the universe than all the grains of sand on our Earth. I started thinking how insignificant we all are, like the ants compared to the cosmos. Between the ant and the entirety the universe I thought what if like the ants we randomly go about the day scrambling to go back at the end of the day to our own colony or homes. Thinking this for a while, about how small even tiny we are, compared to the universe, perhaps we are so tiny that somewhere or someone is starring down at us with a magnifying glass,  just like the ants. Today in present time, I sit in my box that we call homes and see ants in every room. do I play the God role, do I kill the one ant just to have two more show up. Possibly bait them with poison and maybe kill a hundred just to slow them to a manageable rate of control just to see them multiply again. It seems funny to think of us being created in God's image, that if we were like God why can't I eliminate the ants. Funny that for how big we are to the tiny ant we can't find a way to get rid of them. I guess the message I'm saying is that maybe in life even being created in God's image, or being human, with all life's struggles I feel maybe a little like the ant. Like when I was a kid sometimes I feel like the magnifying glass is on me, wondering if I will be burned up by the concentrated beams of light coming from something much larger than me, or will I just be examined having every move studied and documented, either way the end result is the same in that taking one or one hundred there will always be more ants.
